According to a 2019 Glassdoor survey of over 5,000 adults, 56% of workers ranked a strong workplace culture as more important than salary, with more than 75% saying they would consider a company's culture before applying for a job there. Employees who report being happy at work take 10x fewer sick days than unhappy employees. And, companies with an established company culture have a turnover rate of 13.9% compared to 48.4% at those without. These are real business considerations than not only impact the bottom line in a powerful way, but that more importantly speak to the daily sense of joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment that every employee within your veterinary practice derives from their job.
You cannot choose not to have a company culture, you can only choose whether you will define it, or someone else does. The process of defining and aligning your entire staff with a unified vision of the culture you aspire to create is a simple and powerful process that can uplift and transform your workplace for the better if you will give it the consideration and the consistency it deserves.
