Pet Samaritan Clinic

We all know that the best way to a dogs heart is through their stomach! We have special treats just for the pups and use positive reinforcement techniques to let your pup know they can trust us. If your dog can be aggressive to other dogs or has anxiety, call us when you get here and we will ensure a room is ready for your pet to go right into to avoid stress. During your exam or grooming we will use a peanut butter or cheese board to keep your pet happy and stress free while having their procedure done. If you are in the neighborhood stop by and grab a treat with your pet, we love to have them visit when they are not here for a procedure to let them know every visit is not for medical reasons.

Mission

Our staff has special fear/stress free training with Board Certified Animal Behaviorist Dr. Jacqueline Neilson to ensure that we cater to the needs of each pet who walks through our door. Our Cat Zone is a special cat waiting area dedicated to the comfort of your feline friend. Use our special cat comfort cubby or a pheromone infused towel to make your pet feel safe and secure while they wait. Special treats and music just for cats helps kitty feel less anxiety during their visit. We practice fear free handling techniques to reduce stress.

History

In the 1920s, Founder C.F. Milleson advertised Pet Samaritan as the "only hospital in Portland specializing in Dog Practice." In the 1980s, under the leadership of Dr. Patricia Huff, Pet Samaritan was one of the only small and exotic veterinary practices in the area. Dr. Huff is remembered for her heart to serve the homeless, often going into the community to vaccinate pets for parvo during outbreaks. The new facility, located directly across the street from the iconic former location, continues the legacy of progressive medicine, featuring a new special procedures suite, advanced dentistry, endoscopy and design elements to enhance the client and patient experience. "Over the past 100 years, we've had the joy and honor of serving thousands of pets in the community," said Hospital Manager Jennifer Robinson. "Our new facility ensures we'll be able to continue to provide progressive and loving care for the next 100 years!"
