History
Oakland Animal Hospital was founded in 1963 by Dr. Henry Peinecke to offer modern and compassionate veterinary care to the animals of Northwest Bergen County and nearby Passaic and Morris Counties. In 1979, Dr. Robert P. Gordon became the director of the hospital.
Since 1963 Oakland Animal Hospital has grown from a single veterinary practice and a small staff to three veterinarians, seven veterinarian technicians, and nine support staff. Our goal is to make veterinary care a family affair; that is why we believe that you should see the same friendly faces at the door and your pet should receive the same love and care that you give at home.
At the Oakland Animal Hospital, the human-animal bond is a top priority. We carefully select our staff based on their training, people and animal skills. Our team is made up of people who love their pets, just like you. By carefully selecting our staff, we can ensure that your beloved pet is being cared for in a compassionate, caring, professional atmosphere.
Oakland Animal Hospital is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). As a member of AAHA (www.healthypet.com), we participate in Standards of Accreditation reviews to ensure that we continually apply the best practices to the care of your pet. In 2012, we earned our 27th consecutive accreditation. This accreditation program developed by the AAHA raises the level of care being provided to animals, ensures that all practices are up-to-date on changes in veterinary medicine, creates challenging benchmarks, improves practice operations, provides skill checks, and encourages leadership development. By achieving the accreditation for 26 consecutive years, we are proud to be among the best of the best in the community.
