History
Dr. Jim and Dr. Gail met in 1971 as pre-veterinary students at Mississippi State University. They were married in 1973. After completing their pre-vet studies they entered Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine together in 1974. Upon graduation in 1978 they returned to Mississippi and established Crossgates Veterinary Clinic. The practice has seen many changes over the past 40 plus years. Initially, the Anderson's had a general practice with patient species that included dogs, cats, goats, pigs, horses, and cattle. As time has gone by and the location of the practice has changed from rural to urban they are now exclusively a small animal practice. In 2011, the Anderson's welcomed Dr. Anne Holloway as an associate veterinarian and in 2014, Dr. Todd Sullivan joined the clinic as a veterinarian and he and his wife, Dr. Stacie (a pharmacist), became the new practice owners. In 2016, Dr. Jenny Sowell officially came home to the clinic as an associate veterinarian, after having worked at CVC for years before attending veterinary school. Today, Dr. Todd, Dr. Anne, and Dr. Jenny see patients daily in the clinic and on our mobile clinic. Dr. Jim and Dr. Gail are still active at CVC for select surgeries and specialty ultrasounds and echocardiograms. We believe our team of veterinarians are highly trained and among the best in the field.
