Mission

Our goal is to constantly and consistently advance equine medical technology, diagnosis and treatment of our patients without forgetting a client orientated common sense practical horsemanship approach. Equine Services is known for "state of the art" hospital facilities, diagnostics and a passionate care of the horse.

History

Equine Services is proud of its many "firsts" and leading roll with advanced techniques. Equine Services was the first Kentucky clinic to offer embryo transplantation in 1979 and performed the first equine inter-species transplant in the world. A Zebra embryo was transplanted to a domestic horse in 1983 thus re-writing many concepts of reproduction. Hysterioscopic uterine evaluation and later laser-video-hysteroscopic evaluation and treatment were implemented. The reproductive exploratory and tubal patency technique for evaluation and treatment of equine oviduct disorders was developed at Equine Services.Equine services was one of the first facilities in the country to offer laser surgery. This started with the CO2 laser in 1984, and rapidly progressed to the Nd-YAG and diode transendoscopic technologies. Many laser procedures such as uterine cyst and adhesion ablation, aryepiglottic fold removal, epiglottic entrapment, arytenoidectomy, and sinus laser procedures were pioneered at Equine Services allowing for standing minimally invasive surgery.Always a progressive leader in sports medicine and orthopedic procedures Equine Services was one of the first to employ digital radiography, digital nuclear scintigraphy, extra-corporal shockwave, and the first site for IRAP joint therapy. Stem cell regenerative therapy was a natural consequence from these technologies and Equine Services was one of the first to start using stem cell technologies. Our MRI system was another first being able to routinely and consistently image the equine stifle. Exercise endoscopy of the upper airway without the need of a treadmill was another Kentucky first at Equine Service.Currently, new forms of integrative and oxidation therapies are being added to the progressive and innovative options for the horses benefit at Equine Services.
