Special Announcements for Animal Health Care Center

Animal Health Care Center COVID-19 status : Available for reduced services

Special Announcements Message:

Hi guys! Dr. Rachal here. We have already gotten some questions about clients coming in to the clinic and the mask mandate being dropped so I wanted to make sure to address this. I, like all of you, MISS YOU BEING IN THE CLINIC LIKE CRAZY! I miss our hugs! My whiteboards that I draw on to explain things are gathering dust! We re-did the exam rooms and I am excited to show them off! We have a new doctor starting soon too that I can’t wait for y’all to meet! With all of that said: As a medical facility, we view COVID from the medical side and not the political side. This means that we will continue to function in the best HEALTH interests of our staff and our clients. You may have known a lot of people that have had it and survived or maybe you had it and survived or maybe you just don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Well, I personally know a few people who have died (some my own family members) and although I’m not running scared of this virus, my education on immunology and virology have me respecting this virus and what it can do. A couple of things to also keep in mind: We have multiple staff members with medical issues. While that may not mean much to you, it means a LOT to me. My main priorities are to take care of my staff and your pets together. I will not risk the health of my staff members unless I absolutely have to. This means that as a group, we have decided to stay curbside until whoever wants to get vaccinated can do so. In Texas, veterinarians and veterinary personnel are NOT considered essential. We don’t get any type of preferential treatment as far as when we can get vaccinated. Unfortunately this means that it may take longer for us to get our vaccines (those of us who choose to). Please consider what would happen if my staff contract COVID from a client. We are a smaller clinic and like it that way (that’s why we can provide the level of care that we do). If enough of our employees get sick, we have to shut the clinic down for a period of time. This means that your pets don’t get the care they need! I doubt anyone wants that on their shoulders. Even when not curbside, we will still be requiring clients, for the foreseeable future, to come in 1 person per pet and you will HAVE to wear a mask properly (this means covering your nose). I understand it is your right to choose to wear a mask or not or you may have medical issues that make it hard for you to wear one (as someone with asthma I know how much it sucks with my mask on but sometimes I just don’t have a choice-like when I’m operating on patients). If you do not want to wear a mask, we can still do curbside for your pet! I will, of course, keep everyone updated as we go along! Thank you all so much for your continued support and understanding during this crazy new era that we are all living in. (*any posts that are political or nasty toward myself or my staff will be removed*-it is crazy to me that I have to add this but this is also part of the era we are currently living in).
