History
The Miller Place Animal Hospital was started as a vision by Dr. Jeremiah N. Sbarra in 1968. The building was originally a road house, then a medical doctor's office before it was finally converted into a veterinary hospital. It was again remodeled when Dr. Jerome B. Higgins joined the practice in 1972. In 1974, the Miller Place Animal Hospital met the American Animal Hospital Association's stringent standards for animal care and was awarded accreditation. Dr. Pilar Galvis, a recent graduate of the Cornell University Veterinary College, joined the hospital team in 1992. Loving both the community and practice, she entered into partnership with Dr. Higgins in 1998 when Dr. Sbarra retired. Upon Dr. Higgins' retirement in 2008, she became the sole owner of the practice.
