What can I do to reduce my dog’s chances of developing behavior problems?

Work with them early on with training, whether it be obedience training or just learning some basic commands, and then continually enforcing those commands and ensuring that you and your dog are staying on the same page. But maybe you get with a dog trainer early on, and start that way. But the earlier, the better, and just keeping it up, staying on top of it, and making it’s a part of your routine is the best thing you can do.

That's a really good one too. A lot of that's going to go into their entire life. So ensure you're feeding them a well-balanced, complete diet in the right amounts, and provide them with the environment they need to be healthy. Letting them exercise and express their behaviors and normal dog behaviors and providing them with a good social structure at home can go a long way in preventing behavior problems.

Early and consistent training, along with socialization, can help reduce the likelihood of your dog developing behaviour problems. The sooner you start training and socialising your dog, the faster they will understand your expectations and develop appropriate behaviours.
