If my cat is on prevention do they still need a yearly heartworm test?

No, because they don't have microfilaria, we can go ahead and put them on preventatives. They so rarely test positive because they almost never get adult worms, so yearly testing is not recommended.

I still recommend it because there are some signs of resistance in certain cases so we want to make sure that we take care of that immediately.
