Carolyn Benedetto DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Benedetto's lifelong love for animals started when she grew up in Crowley, Louisiana with dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, fish, and horses. She first pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science with honors in Biology. Here she worked on an organic farm with two Belgium Draft Horses. She met her soon-to-be husband, Patrick, in Asheville and got married in New Orleans. Dr. Benedetto then attended vet school back in her home state at LSU and was awarded her Doctorate in Vet Med and the Merck Vet Student Innovation award. After Patrick graduated from Vanderbilt Law School, they relocated back south, where Patrick started work as an attorney in downtown Houston.

Dr. Benedetto currently has two rescue dogs, a Scottie mutt, Ophelia, and a retriever mutt, Zoey. During the flooding of 2016, Zoey was found wading through floodwaters with a severely broken leg, a bladder infection, cancer, and heartworm disease. During Dr. Benedetto’s long process of healing Zoey, she realized how crucial rehabilitation and acupuncture were and worked towards obtaining both certifications. She became acupuncture certified from the Curacore Integrative Medicine Center of Colorado and is currently working on her canine rehabilitation certification from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Benedetto is passionate about low stress handling and finding innovative ways to make her patients comfortable in the clinic. She also enjoys working with elderly patients and treating chronic pain conditions such as arthritis. When not working, Dr. Benedetto can be found hiking and canoeing with her husband and pups. She also enjoys yoga, painting, and trying new restaurants with Patrick.
