West Valley City is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah. Our city, which was incorporated in 1980, has become home to many local amenities and entertainment venues, including the USANA Amphitheatre and Maverik Center. We are bordered by the Salt Lake Valley, Magna Township, South Salt Lake, Salt Lake City, and Taylorsville.

You will also find that the biggest employers here include Discover Financial, UPS, Select Portfolio Servicing, Hexcel, Verizon Wireless, and Swift Transportation.

West Valley City also has a rich history. The first inhabitants of the area were likely Ute and Shoshoni peoples. Mormon groups were the first Europeans to arrive in the area, and they moved in during the 1840s. Soon, more pioneers arrived and were able to develop agriculture thanks to the development of irrigation systems. Fruit trees were a staple of the area. The city began to grow rapidly, especially throughout the 1970s.

Many notable people have made a home in West Valley City over the years. They include cowboy Hugh B. Brown, Seattle Seahawks player Anton Palepoi, Minnesota Vikings player Naufahu Tahi, and group SHeDAISY. Our city also has a reputation based on the fact that Ted Bundy was once arrested here.

The population of West Valley City was 136,170 as of 2017. The population has grown by more than 25 percent since the year 2000. We are happy to see that the population is growing rapidly, especially because we love having so many wonderful people and pets here.
