Hialeah

Here in Hialeah, we love our pets! Situated in Miami-Dade County, Hialeah is a wonderful place to call home. Situated in the Miami metropolitan area, Hialeah is just west-northwest of Miami. Transportation is available to Downtown Miami and West Palm Beach quite easily. The local climate sees a lot of rain each year, creating a wet environment throughout the year. You will find plenty to do in Hialeah. Amelia Earhart Park is one of the most prominent parks in the community. The park includes more than 500 acres of land, including a five-acre dog park. You will also find the Miami Watersports Complex nearby, which allows you to water surf and paddleboard. Want to venture out of town? Downtown Miami and local beaches are full of opportunities to explore.

Hialeah is thought of by many as a suburb for Miami but, of course, it offers a style all its own. You can partake in the lifestyle by visiting events and festivals in Hialeah. They include the Jose Marti Commemorative Walk, Easter Eggstravaganza, Art on Palm, Independence Day Celebration, Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Triangle Park Tree Lighting Ceremony, Santa’s Snow Blast, Turkey Trot and Back to School Bash.

The economic features of Hialeah are based in commercial retail. Major retailers located in the area include Starbucks, Lowe’s, Best Buy, and Target. Some businesses, including Sedano’s and Navarro, are more local. Additionally, mom-and-pop stores are quite popular in Hialeah thanks to the local culture. Until 2018, the Spanish-language station Telemundo was headquartered in Hialeah.

Hialeah is a city with history. The name of the city came from Muskogee words that mean “pretty prairie.” During the 1920s, Hialeah became a significant center for entertainment. Sporting, including greyhound racing, was very popular. Additionally, movie studios in Miami helped create silent films. Unfortunately, a hurricane in the mid-1920s brought much of this activity to an end.

Hialeah is home to approximately 238,942 people and their pets. In fact, Hialeah is the sixth-largest city in Florida according to 2017 estimates. This means there are about 11,126 people per square mile. The median age in the city is 44.2 years old. As you can see, Hialeah is a growing community with a lot to offer.
