Here in Rialto, we really love our pets! We are thrilled with our city as well as our animals.
Our city, which is in San Bernardino County, has earned the nickname “Bridge City” for a reason. We also offer a Mediterranean climate with wet, cool winters and hot, dry summers. The arid climate also means that our city experiences seasonal Santa Ana winds.
You will find no shortage of things to do in Rialto. Ferguson Park is a premier green space with lots of room to run and play. The park includes a football field and stadium as well. Nearby Redlands also hosts a Lincoln Memorial Shrine, which includes an Abraham Lincoln museum. Local breweries also offer craft drinks and opportunities for fun and socializing.
Local events also make our city a destination. Our city boasts several Yard Sale Weekends throughout the year in addition to a holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony. Children will love Halloween Hi-Jinks, which is held at Rialto City Hall on Halloween. Pet-a-Palooza is an annual family festival that caters to the prevention of pollution and the celebration of pets.
The economy of Rialto is largely based on warehousing and distribution. In fact, several distribution centers exist in our city: Staples Inc., Toys “R” Us, Under Armour, and Target. Additionally, we host Pyro Spectaculars, one of the nation’s largest fireworks companies. Our growing city has a growing economy, and you can expect to see jobs increase in the future.
The history of Rialto began with settlements that existed before 1500. The Serrano Indians lived in the area until the 1800s, but it is not clear exactly what happened to them. Part of Rialto, specifically Foothill Boulevard, eventually became part of U.S. Route 66. This was the start of a population boom that led to swift growth throughout the 1900s.
Rialto has been home for many notable people in the United States. These people include NFL player Nick Barnett, baseball player Jeff Conine, actor Wilson Cruz, hip-hop group J. J. Fad, social figure Rodney King, and dancer Twyla Tharp. Our city is just close enough to Los Angeles and San Diego to help facilitate those who want to be involved in the arts.
The population of Rialto is about 103,400. Our population is growing, and it is about much more than the proximity to cities like San Bernardino. Our city offers more than enough on its own, and people are beginning to see it.
