Costa Mesa

In Costa Mesa, our pets are family. We love taking them with us to places like the Costa Mesa Bark Park or walking along the Santa Ana River Trail. Costa Mesa is located south of Los Angeles, and north of Laguna Beach. Costa Mesa's location on the southern California coast means it has good weather year-round, with 274 days of sun on average. With warm summers and mild winters, it's a great place to be if you love being outdoors.

Costa Mesa is located in the heart of Orange County, giving you access to any sort of activity you like. Head to Newport Beach for a harbor tour with Duffy Boats, play a round of golf at the Costa Mesa Country Club, or book an aerial tour with OC Helicopters for a truly unique experience.

Costa Mesa is an urban center with an ocean view. Its urban setting provides visitors with endless choices for shopping, food, and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy the Tennis Center, the Goathill Junction Model Train Station, and the Costa Mesa Skate Park or spend the day shopping at South Coast Plaza. In the evening, Fairview Park hosts free concerts on a regular basis, come for the music and to patronize the food trucks or enjoy the beer garden. In July and August, the Orange County Fair is a great event for families to enjoy together. Costa Mesa calls itself the "City of the Arts," and is home to the Pacific Symphony and the South Coast Repertory Theater. It is a major retail and industrial center, and the capital of the action sports industry.

Costa Mesa began in the early 1800s with one small house, built as a shelter for local cattle herders. The town's growth didn't take off until much later that century and remained an agricultural community until just before the Great Depression. During World War II, the Santa Ana Army Airbase was located here. The City of the Arts was originally named Harper, after a local rancher. It didn't change to its modern name until 1920, and the town didn't incorporate until 1953. The original adobe house used by the herdsmen still stands today.

Costa Mesa had a population of 113,825 as of 2017, and has been growing steadily since the year 2000. Costa Mesa residents take full advantage of their sunny, warm weather, and like to include their pets in their outdoor activities whenever they can.
